If Taylor Swift & Travis Kelce Asked Us to Design Their Wedding Crest...

It all started with a question.

What if Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce asked us to design their wedding crest?

As a stationery designer, one of my favorite things to create is a custom wedding crest. They're more than a beautiful illustration. They're visual storytelling. Every icon is intentionally chosen to represent a couple's history, personalities, interests, traditions, and future together.

So, as both a designer and a Swiftie, I couldn't resist imagining what Taylor and Travis' crest might look like.

The result? A crest filled with hidden details, references, and Easter eggs that I hope fans will have as much fun decoding as we did creating them.

Step One: Research (Yes... there was research.)

Before a single brushstroke hit the paper, I made a list of everything that has become part of Taylor and Travis' story.

Some references were obvious.

Others required revisiting lyrics, interviews, football games, podcasts and fan theories.

The goal wasn't to include every reference imaginable. It was to choose symbols that felt timeless and representative of their relationship.

Step Two: Hand-Painting Every Element

Once the list was finalized, our incredibly talented resident watercolor artist, Lena, painted every single illustration by hand.

Rather than painting one large crest, each icon was created individually.

That meant dozens of tiny watercolor paintings, each carefully detailed before ever making its way into the final composition.

Watching all of the individual pieces come together is one of my favorite parts of the process.

Step Three: Becoming an Unqualified Florist

After everything was scanned, I assembled the crest digitally in Photoshop.

Oddly enough, it felt less like graphic design and more like arranging flowers.

Every illustration had to find the perfect place.

Rotate the snake.

Move the football.

Scoot the friendship bracelet.

Give Benjamin a little more breathing room.

Hours of moving, resizing, rotating, and balancing later, the composition finally felt complete.

A great crest shouldn't feel crowded or random. Every element should guide your eye naturally around the design while telling a cohesive story.

Why Wedding Crests Matter

While this project is imaginary, the design process is exactly the same one I use for real couples.

Every crest begins with conversations.

  1. What places are meaningful?

  2. What hobbies define your relationship?

  3. Which pets absolutely deserve a spot?

  4. What family traditions have been passed down?

  5. What little details make your love story uniquely yours?

Those answers become artwork.

And that artwork becomes something you can weave throughout your wedding day—from invitations and menus to signage, dance floors, cocktail napkins, thank-you cards, and heirloom keepsakes long after the celebration ends.

The beauty of a custom crest is that it tells your story before your guests ever read a single word.

Which Easter Egg Is Your Favorite?

Whether you're here because you're a Swiftie, a design enthusiast, or someone planning your own wedding, I'd love to know:

Which hidden detail did you spot first?

And if you could design your own wedding crest, what would absolutely have to make an appearance?
