Assembling Your Suite

Assembled wedding invitation suite with vellum band and wax seal.

Hooray! Your stationery has been printed and arrived for you to assemble. While we can’t be there for this part of the process, we wanted to give you our best tips to make assembling a breeze!

The proper order for assembly is as follows:

  1. Invitation, printed side up

  2. Large enclosure (i.e. details card), printed side up

  3. Response envelope, printed side up, the flap on the right side

  4. Response card, printed side up

  5. Small enclosure (i.e. website or brunch card), printed side up

  6. Then, bound it together with a belly band

Vellum jackets/bands: It's best to wrap these around just the invite card first so it is as tight as possible. You then can slide in the other cards. For bands, glue dots will be included to close the band around your suite. Need more? Try these glue dots or something similar at your local craft store.

Wax seals: These are super easy to assemble. All you need to do is peel off the backing and stick it on! Remember, I advise not to put these on the outer envelopes. When adhering to close a vellum jacket, the same advise applies of wrapping the jacket around just the invitation card and closing with the wax seal. Then insert the other pieces so it’s nice and tight!

Sealing your envelopes: Every envelope is different and some are harder to seal than others. First, I recommend saving your tongue and using a slightly damp sponge to wet the seal. If this doesn't seem to do the trick, I'd suggest using an envelope moistener adhesive roller.

Postage: It's best to take your assembled suite to the post office to be weighed and get an accurate postage amount. Some suites will be considered non-machinable due to size (square) or bulk (from paper thickness, wax seals, ribbon, etc.) so make sure to ask for that to be accounted for. Even if is not square or bulky, we always recommend having suites hand-cancelled to avoid the USPS sorting machines to arrive in the best condition. If doing RSVPs by mail, don't forget to get postage for your RSVP envelopes (1 forever stamp will do!). For more on postage, check out this post!
